I purchased this product because I found myself carrying my Kindle everywhere. So the convenience of having the car charger made it a no-brainer. Don't be fooled! This product sucks! The second I opened it, its appearence is cheap and questionable, so I verified that it did in-fact work in my vehicle and start a charge too my Kindle, but I did not actually use it right away. Totally my fault, since, as it turns out, my habit to re-charge at home was more reliable than this product. After the 30day return policy had lapsed, I went on a 2 week trip, this thing over-heated (the base got hot to the touch) after 15 minutes, and the amber light while recharging, never turned to green as the house charger does.
Buyer beware! I was naive to think that just because Amazon carryed this product on-line it would be reliable, it is not! No wonder there is such a short "return time" and total denial of any type of return, not even an even exchange or store credit is offered to the consumer. I, as one other review listed, did not use it on my precious Kindle again and have ordered another product, that at the time of this purchase was not availabe to me, from Gizmo Dorks/CrazyOnDigital "Amazon Kindle 2 (2nd Generation) USB Car Charger, USB Wall / Travel Charger Earphones, and Screen Protector / Guard". This combo package although duplicates some items, is worth it, the actual USB cord from the house charger plugs into the car charger....this is a better buy.

Kindle can go for weeks without needing charging; therefore you will not be using this product unless you are living in your car.
I bought this together with other accesories but haven't tried it yet.
