 This cover broke my Kindle with no replacement option available July 6, 2010

When my husband bought my Kindle, he also bought the official Kindle cover. Unfortunately, the attachment hooks do not hinge, and there is no tie down in the lower right hand corner, so as I used the product, it cracked the front of my Kindle face. When I called to report the situation to Kindle, I was simply told it was operator error and I could purchase a new Kindle if I wanted to, but since it did not effect how the Kindle worked, it was not covered. I love my Kindle, this is the only issue that has left a very sour taste in my mouth. I definately tell eveyone I know interested in a Kindle to go for it, but do not buy the poorly developed cover...spend the extra and get one that will actually protect your investment!

I bought this cover together with my DX. It fit very nicely, secured my DX very very well, and the 'magnets' also held the case together very well.
But, it added weight to my DX. Being a non powerful girl, a DX in this case in my bag was too heavy. I wanted to remove the case for a long time, but couldn't find any "safe" way to remove it because it feels like its so tightly hooked on my DX I would break it while removing it.
After searching online and reading lots of pages (no one had specific answers), I finally was able to remove it by pushing the hinge down or something. I noted there were some scratches near where the hinges were already.
If anyone less careful tried to remove it by force, I'm sure there would be CRACKS on the kindle.
I think the case is nice if I'm going to just station my DX at home., or for someone who wouldn't mind carrying weight. The protection seems good. But this was too heavy for me. ;(

The Amazon Kindle DX Cover is an excellent product. It provides protection and ease of use. The materials look and feel just fine and I think will wear well. The ability to fold the front cover all the way around makes it very easy to use when lieing in bed at night. All in all, a great product.
Poor quality July 2, 2010

I am extremely disappointed in the quality of goods being sold by Amazon.
I have already returned my Amazon Kindle DX Leather Cover once because it was damaged.
The new cover that I have received is also damaged please see attached photo, the leather appears to have a water mark on it that does not clean off.
The previous cover was warped which leads me to believe that the covers being sold have been water damaged at some stage.
I am not prepared to go through the hassle of returning the cover again.
You also have not refunded the full postage as promised.
I paid R85.20 for the cheapest postage and was reimbursed for R55.28???!!!
I would like a full refund or compensation for the product as it is unacceptable to have damaged goods sent when I am paying full price for new goods.

The cover is attractive and seems durable.
BUT, avoid it. In less than three weeks it created a hairline crack in the Kindle's case. Amazon was great about providing a new Kindle and giving me credit for the cover. I should have searched the web for a quick review of the cover, because I am not alone in having this problem.
If you do have the Kindle and the Amazon cover, be sure to never open up the cover on the rear side of the Kindle.
