4 out of 5 stars GelaSkins Protective Skin for Kindle 2   March 19, 2009

I purchased the GelaSkin for my Kindle 2 and I love it. It was easy to put on and it protects the back of the Kindle 2 plus gives it a personality of its own. The GelaSkins come in a wonderful variety of patterns and colors. I would purchase it again, it might be a little pricey but, you get what you pay for. The GelaSkin provides a better grip of the Kindle. Now my husband wants one for his Kindle.

I would recommend it and would purchase again.

5 out of 5 stars Sand Cover   March 15, 2009

Hey Everyone who has the kindle. I live near the beach and would like to bring the kindle and read. But sand is a big problem I have tried zip lock bags but you can't see the screen once you insert it into the bag. I have tried all of the ones on the market. I have also tried the shrink wrap and that has a disadvantage to it as well if it is to tight then the kindle will either go to the next page all the time or it will go back. Now does anyone have a suggestion that I might try? And not going to the beach is not one of them

Thanks In Advance

I thought that this product would protect my kindle, but instead it just covers the back. I would expect for twenty dollars they would at least include two sticks one for the front and one of the back. If you want a nice decoration this might be for you. However, if you want to protect your kindle purchase a real cover not a decal.

I love the artwork of this cover. I love the detail and creativity of the theme. It is brilliant.

3 out of 5 stars Nice, functional and overpriced   March 14, 2009

I knew from the start that this Gelaskin was not going to be a full-covering skin/case. That never bothered me. The back of the Kindle 2 is simply too "Apple-looking" and I HAD to personalize it. What I wanted was a stylish protective ultra-slim layer for the back of my Kindle 2. And that's what this is. It is what I expected it to be.

What I had HOPED it would be is removable and reusable. As in: static clingy. The description is ambiguous and I couldn't tell if it was removable AND reusable. No. I don't think it is. It is definitely a sticky adhesive decal. Don't think about removing it, washing it off with soap and reapplying it. That won't work. You MAY be able to carefully remove it, store it on its original backing and reapply it later, but you're going to have to hope for luck there.

Another thing I hoped for was that it truly is "photographic quality" as advertised. It's not. The print grain is quite good, but "photographic quality" is a pretty high standard that this product does not meet. However, unless you get your face right up to it, you can't see any grain. Also, the product seems to have a slightly yellowish/greenish tint not apparent in the neutral-looking listing photo.

All in all I got my stylish/artsy Kindle 2 ultra-slim rear adhesive cover. I just hoped for more and [...] bucks is simply too much. [...] would be more like it. I'm satisfied, but not thrilled.

A gripe I have with it is that the whole product with backing and plastic packaging is only about the size of 5 sheets of copy paper but Amazon ships it in a big box with 6 big protective plastic air bladders. TERRIBLY wasteful! It could be shipped in a simple document envelope. Shame on Amazon! :P
