great if 3g worked August 29, 2010 bdiscount 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The kindle is good and would be great if the 3g or edge or grps worked where I am located.
I went thru 2 kindles trying to get it to work with no luck just a lot of wasted time.
I could only get 1 bar at certain times, which is not enough to get to the store. I am located 25miles south of Fargo ND. I went to a farmstead in central ND and got to the storeand downloaded a sample, worked fine. I download books etc via computer which works fine for me. I have a pocketpc I used as a reader, which is smaller and cost quite a bit more and I have to down load to computer. The price of the books a quite a bit cheaper for the Kindle. The battery on the kindle seems to last forever. The keyboard is full on the 2nd gen. but not on the latest gen. I would like to have the wii but won't buy a new one just for that.
Nothing annoys me more than ..... August 29, 2010 rachel (Fraser, ACT, AU) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I loved my kindle, really did. I was a bit phased when the iPad came out so quickly after I purchased my kindle, and the fact that as an Australian I can't even access the full functionality of the kindle, but I comforted myself with the knowledge that I'd purchased a good, well priced product. Imagine my horror when I find out, through an email delivered straight to my inbox, that I hadn't purchased a well priced product at all - in fact I had purchased a product at more than double it's real worth. Even though I paid well over $300 less than a year ago, the product is now being advertised at $139 - who knows, maybe it is only worth $10?
This is extremely disappointing amazon.
great gift August 29, 2010 Dean T. Mccreedy (Bellevue Ne.) Got this as a gift for my wife and she is very happy with this
Easy to use.... August 29, 2010 clinger I purchased my Amazon Kindle 2 about a month ago and have loved it from the first day! It is easy use. Books download quickly with a tremendous selection. The screen is bright and easy to read. I especially like the dictionary that gives you the definition of any word by just placing the cursor in front of it.
Only thing missing is a back lighted screen when its dark. I bought the cover and its a great accessory. I love that its light, and smaller than hauling around books as I travel a lot. Great product!
No buyer's remorse whatsoever. August 29, 2010 Michael J. Muller (San Antonio, TX, US) The K2 is a wonderfully useful toy. I originally bought it so that I could read the love-and-war novel I had published on Kindle, A Dream of Heaven by Michael FitzGordon. However, I found that I could download numerous popular classics for free! One can be a walking library with thousands of books at one's fingertips. The first few times I downloaded books I thought it wasn't working, and then I realized that it was so fast that it had already completed the download! I'm a geek and lover of words, and I like to look things up. A dictionary and Wikipedia are at my fingertips wherever I am. It is true that paper books are wonderfully hardy, and one can beat them up and neglect them. However, the reading experience on a Kindle is unquestionably superior, and the wave of the future, because one can adjust the fonts and make bookmarks and notes. No more squinting at tiny fonts. One's place is automatically saved, which doesn't happen with a paper book. You can in no way easily search a paper book for terms. K2 will even read the book to you aloud! All the luddites are proclaiming their love for old-fashioned paper books. I love old-fashioned paper books too. But the truth is that a good e-reader like the K2 is a much more pleasant experience in ways that paper books cannot even touch! I still have a few candles in my home, but I use electric lights almost 100% of the time. Paper books will soon be like candles. Yes, you will have a few in your home, but you will almost never use them.
