It does the job! July 20, 2010 Emma in Pinehurst It works really well in when you need some extra light without having to use overhead lights. It's actually a little too bright in a completely dark room. I would purchase it again.
Mighty Bright Clip-On Light July 19, 2010 City Girl (Ohio) Fantastic! Love the option to select brightness (high or low). It is small and light weight enough to travel with easily AND it works great for my Kindle DX with the larger screen! I don't have to move it around to read the whole page. I've read other comments about the glare, but if you position it correctly it is no problem. I also use the Might Bright with my laptop for working in the truck while my husband drives! I will probably purchase additional Mighty Brights as gifts! I've tried many other "book lights"; this one beats them all by far.
LOVE the quality of light, HATE the ease in which the light is turned on July 19, 2010 Muhsketchy (somewhere in the desert) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As oh so many people have already eloquently stated, this is about the best reading light I have ever purchased, and believe me, over the years that's been a whole lot of lights. I've even purchased at least a dozen or more Mighty Brights over the past 25+ years but they can't begin to compare to this one in many ways.
To begin with the short rigid plastic arm has been replaced by a longer flexible arm which you can bend and twist until the light shines just where 'you' need, not some factory preset with a limited range of adjustment. The biggest, and best, improvement is the switch to LED. The LED lights are so much brighter and provide you with sharp 'clean' light, so even after a long hard day on the computer, reading before bed is a pleasure because there are no shadows on the page. You may find a bit of glare from time to time but that is simply fixed by tilting the screen or angling the light a fraction. Of course, all of that brightness does come at a cost so the booklight requires 3 batteries rather than the usual two. For as long as I have been buying them, Mighty Brights have always used AAA batteries rather than the (much) more expensive button batteries which so many of the book lights require. The LED lights don't require as much power so even if you aren't using rechargeables, the cost of replacing batteries won't bankrupt you in the end. Surprisingly I haven't needed to change the batteries in my light very often, even though I have dozed off with the light still on many nights.
Now my only complaint about the light, and it is beginning to become a biggie, is with how very easy it is for the light to be activated. It takes just a little pressure on the switch and your light is on, ready for you to read for hours with no noticeable degradation in the quality of light. Unfortunately, this has happened too many times, when I wasn't sitting down to read and sometimes without my help at all. Like many others, I keep my kindle and light in a travel bag, one specifically designed for the purpose not just jammed into my handbag. I have discovered that the light can be turned on by the slightest contact with the side of the bag, shifting of the kindle, almost anything. The problem being I'm not activating the light and it is a total waste of battery power and obviously, since it is unintentional, the light can be on for hours before it is discovered.
To be fair, I read many reviews before purchasing this light and maybe 1 in 10 of those mentioned the problem. I discounted the warnings because of all of the rave reviews and when I first started using my light I was so glad I had because the light is GREAT. If I had it to do all over again would I...in a heartbeat! Not only would I but I have, buying not only a spare, in case mine went out while I was traveling, but I bought a dual headed one so I could read hardcover books without having to constantly adjust the head so that the light would shine evenly on both pages. So by all means, if anyone is looking for a great light, not only for their kindle but for all of their reading needs, this is THE light to buy. But keep in mind, you might want to look inside after moving your bag and if you have cats, or small dogs who love walking on everything but the floor, they could be the gremlins who are turning your light on when you aren't looking.
Kindle Light July 16, 2010 Louis P. Solomon (Bethesda MD) This is an excellent product. It is light weight, flexible, easy to adjust, and meets all my requirements. The only drawback, and a minor one, is the light reflects from the Kindle screen as a glare and make reading a little difficult. This problem is resolved by slightly moving the light's orientation to the screen and the glare disappears from the direction you are reading. Another approach is to slightly change how you hold the Kindle or slightly move your head and force the slight glare to move around so as to not affect your eye perception. I would recommend this light to any interested buyer. It accompanies me, and my Kindle, wherever I go.
Great Light July 14, 2010 P. Turpin (Bakersfield, CA United States) This is a perfect little lite for the Kindle. Bright enough for the reader without using excessive battery power. Th unit it lite and easy to use. This is a no brainer.
