4 out of 5 stars Good light, could use improved switch   June 23, 2010
greytlucy (arizona)
I bought one of these three weeks ago when I bought my Kindle. This was just ahead of an international trip. The kindle, the light and myself are just returned from this strip. I used the light quite a bit and found it for the most part to be a great accessory. Nice and bright, and wrapping it around the backside of the Kindle to reflect from the side illuminated the screen nicely with no glare. It is lightweight and so doesn't make teh Kindle much heavier to hold. The clip is strong and stayed put when attached to the Kindle.

I also liked how small, bright and lightweight it was for uses beyond reading. I was staying in a basement room at one point in my trip and the light was a great to use to find my away up the stairs during the night.

The only downside I found was the switch. I was surprised to find the light on in my bag after 18 hours of travel to my destination. Removing the batteries took care of this issue when it was packed at other points. However, this meant storing the batteries and one more thing to find in the luggage. A less sensitive switch woudl be a good modification. A travel case would be a good option as well. I wound it around itself to store in my bag but would have liked to protect it as well.

Overall a very good accessory however.

3 out of 5 stars It's mighty bright alright   June 23, 2010

I'll keep it short and to the point. This is a useful little light for having around the house. But it's too big and way to bright for Kindle purposes. It projects one heck of a beam that is intrusive for a spouse trying to sleep. If you live alone, this would be fine. But then why would you need it?

5 out of 5 stars Mighty Fine Accessory   June 22, 2010

I received this as a gift from my daughter about 45 days after buying my Kindle. I LOVE IT!!! The flexibility the gooseneck provides gives you total control over any possible screen glare. I can't imagine why one would want to keep it on the "high" setting as the low position provides ample light to read by while my wife sleeps peacefully. I also appreciate the standard AAA batteries which work well with my NiCad charger and compatible batteries. This is a great product for late night readers!

4 out of 5 stars Works ok   June 21, 2010

This was my first light for my Kindle Dx. It works ok. The clip is a little large and does not hold all that well. The battery life is ok. The brightness is ok with two lights on but not with one light on. There is a hot spot unless you change the angle quite a bit. It also just barely covers the surface area of the Kindle Dx with light at the angle needed not to create a hot spot.

3 out of 5 stars Great...for my headboard.   June 20, 2010

I spent 20 bucks on a nice little clip-on reading light for my headboard.. now if I could just get one for my Kindle.

It's on my headboard because it kept slipping and tipping over when clipped to the kindle, which drove me bonkers. it doesn't help that the clip is so big you have no choice but to clip it to the corner of the kindle where the surface is a tad rounded, providing a less-than-ideal gripping surface.

This product is well made, provides good light, and I love having two brightness settings. It just doesn't make a very good clip-on light for the Kindle.
