 Love my DX skin, didn't buy it here July 22, 2010

I got my Kindle DX skin at another site, DecalGirl. It was a little pricey, $20 plus $8 shipping, but i'm very happy. I didn't like the selection of DX skins at amazon and found this site instead. There are literally thousands of choices. I got my skin to be 1. decorative and 2. protect against fingerprints, discoloration, smudges. I got the matte option, found an online coupon.
What is a skin? I didn't know before i ordered one. The skin is 1-2mm and doesn't add any noticeable weight or dimension to the Kindle. It won't protect against a fall and drop and isn't meant to. It's in 2 main pieces, for front and back sides. It does NOT wrap around. It isn't waterproof. It's a decal, for the Kindle.
It looks pretty and protects against everyday wear and tear. Plain solid color ones at ebay run about $10, free shipping. I figured since I bought a $379 ebook reader, another $20 for a print I love and look at every single time i pick up the Kindle is not a deal breaker. so if you're looking for more variety, I can recommend decalgirl. there's probably other sites out there too.

I found the skin too hard to apply on DX, probably on a smaller devices it is easier applied.
Also, from the usage point of view, it looks ok, no more.

This gel skin is not only pretty, but feels great and the application was so easy. It fit the kindle dx perfectly.

I bought this thinking it was a full cover for the kindle and instead it just covers the front and back, not the sides; its not a skin but a latex-like cover. I feel Amazon is doing an injustice to its customers because the name of this product really does not reflect what it actually is. With that said I kind of like it because the oils from my finger(s) was discoloring the white of the kindle buttons...I read a lot. So I'm happy that it does provide protection from that. The design is really nice and I would purchase other "skins" if they came out with others but not at the price they are currently charging because I feel the price is inflated based on the product itself. These things should be no more than $10, definitely not $20.
