Product Description Sleek & Trim Kindle DX is as thin as most magazines. Just over a third of an inch in profile, you'll find Kindle DX fits perfectly in your hands. Beautiful Large Display Kindle DX's large display is ideal for a broad range of reading material, including graphic-rich books, PDFs, newspapers, magazines, and blogs. Kindle DX's display is two and a half times the size of the Kindle display. Whether you're reading the latest bestseller or a financial report, text and images are amazingly sharp on the 9.7" screen. Auto-Rotating Screen By simply turning the device, you can immediately see full-width landscape views of maps, graphs, tables and Web pages. Built-In PDF Reader Unload the loose documents from your briefcase or backpack, and put them all on Kindle DX. From neighborhood newsletters to financial statements to case studies and product manuals--you can take them all with you on Kindle DX. Native PDF support allows you to carry and read all of your personal and professional documents on the go. With Amazon's Whispernet service, you can send your documents directly to your Kindle DX and read them anytime, anywhere. 5-Way Controller Kindle DX has an easy-to-use 5-way controller, enabling precise on-screen navigation for selecting text to highlight or looking up words. Simple to Use, No Computer Required Kindle DX is completely wireless and ready to use right out of the box--no setup, no cables, no computer required. Long Battery Life - Read for Days Without Recharging With Kindle DX's long battery life, you can read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to 2 weeks. Battery life will vary based on wireless usage, such as shopping the Kindle Store and downloading content. In low coverage areas or in 1xRTT only coverage, wireless usage will consume battery power more quickly.

Review Of The Kindle DX February 9, 2010 Kent Goodman (Henderson, NV USA) I have been using my Kindle DX for about six months and in general I am well satisfied with it. But I do have three things that I don't like about it and feel that if Kindle would change them, that it would be much more of a benefit to all users.
One, I do not like the use of locations instead of page numbers. I don't have a feel for locations, for example, if I was on page 900 of a book and wanted to use the "go to page function" to page 950, it would mean more to me than using the "go to location" from say 33,000 to say 35,000. I would rather have page numbers than locations even if the page numbers do not correspond exactly with the actual page numbers in the document.
Second, most people don't read a book straight through without wanting to occasionally page backwards or forwards. Having to move one page at a time is frustrating when you want to go say 25 pages. The Kindle user should be able to press say the "q" button and then the page forward button and move forward 10 pages, pressing "w" would move forward 20 pages, etc. The same would be true for going backwards in a document.
Third, it is very awkward having both the letters and numbers on the top row of the keyboard and having to use the alt key in order to actually type in numbers. It is very awkward to hold the DX with one hand and press the alt and number keys at the same time with the other. It would be much more convenient to have a row of number keys above the letter keys as with a regular keyboard.
Bookworm February 9, 2010 Book Worm (Decatur, AL USA) I have owned the 6 inch Kindle as well as the 9.7 inch Kindle. I read so many books that I am thoroughly enjoying not having to stockpile so many hard copy books. I loved the 6 inch Kindle, but since my eyes are older, I decided to try the larger size. The larger print, sharper pictures and the number of books that you can store on the Kindle DX are all pluses. I had gotten accustomed to the previous and next pages being on both sides on the 6 inch Kindle. It took me a while to get use to it being on the right side only. This may be a problem for left-hand people. Overall, I love the Kindle DX and have recommended it to many of my friends. Several have already purchased it after flipping through mine.
No back lighting or color. February 8, 2010 Joseph W. Schoeberl (joplin, missouri, US) Technology is great, but some difficulty in reading with no back light. Limited with no color...Newspapers difficult...why not format paper and click to select article...based on what may be sold by Apple, they may have the better technology...Amazon is a great company, but may have #2 reader...will see...when Company called on back light issue, given the "old corporate talk", "easier on the eyes" not even "I'll pass it along", then the next month Apple rolled out the Pad...without these limitations...look out Kendle DX!
Readings A Pleasure - Again! February 8, 2010 Leo Trzepkowski I purchased the Kindle DX 9.7" as a Christmas Present for my wife. She thoroughly enjoys it - in fact, so do I. I like the large number of books/magazines/papers that I can purchase, and the speed of their delivery. S/H eas very good. My only complaint - the keyboard is too small. I think that if it would appear on the Kindle screen, it would be easier to use.
Kindle and Me February 8, 2010 Donald S. Sammis (Titusville, Fl) Slippery little raskal. Always afraid it will slide off the table. Could use more imaginative instructions. Like most consumer electronic devices, the authers of the instructions are devoid of ergonomics, clear thinking and the english language. You aren't alone. Everyone does it.
No problem reading my chosen tome, but look forward to wider array of older books. Long out of date, for instance, and semi porno stuff.
Non skid back should be easy, the Bathmat people hve the technology.
